How and where to accommodate your dog during the night depends on several factors.

If you want to accommodate your dog inside or outside is an important decision.

Boxer dogs, Rottweiler dogs or German Shepherds usually sleep in an outside cage. Of course they have access into the house and frequent contact to their people. They just sleep outside and rest in their cage. If you accommodate your dog outside the house, make sure that unfamiliar people from the street cannot distract your dog or establish contact to your dog. A dog cage should have a minimum size of 2m by 4m and should be closed at three sides to protect your dog from wind and rain.

If you should not have place for a cage, accommodate your dog inside the house. Choose a quiet place for him, from where your dog can watch your family activities. You can offer him a blanket or cushion as sleeping place. However, your dog may also use its transport box as a cave.

Dogs with a long fur prefer a cool underground. A simple synthetic mat or a cool dog bed is appropriate for these dogs.

To avoid ranking problems, do not let your dog sleep in your bed. He can lay beside your bed, what is more hygienic anyway.
