Dog Health
At your dog's fur you can see if he is healthy. His skin is an indicator for his health condition.
 A healthy dog has a shiny, un-matted coat, free from rashes and parasites.
Your healthy dog should be active and friendly with good appetite. General signs of good health for your dog include also: - Eyes: Bright and clear, free of discharge
- Ears: Clean, free of wax
- Teeth: White and clean. Dogs gums should be pink, the breath odorless
It's important that you learn to recognize any signs of disorders. Unless your dog is unconscious, bleeding, or otherwise visibly distressed, how can you see if he is healthy od sick?
Types of unusual behavior that may signal dog disorders include: loss of appetite; lack of interest; hiding in dark places; chewing at skin, feet or coat; persistent coughing, head shaking or scratching; unpleasant odor; swollen gums; harsh coat; skin rashes; repeated vomiting.
Dogs cannot tell us when they feel badly. Growling, snapping, or aggressive dog behavior because you touch him may indicate that your dog is in pain.
Other behavior that can indicate pain:
- Limping
- Turning the head to look at an area frequently
- Running in circles
- Unpredictable movements
- Snapping at people, other dogs or self
- Reluctance to get up or lie down
- Out of breath for no obvious reason
We humans must look at our dog and see what he tries to tell us in his actions and behavior.
